What The Forecast?!! iOS Privacy Policy

What The Forecast?!! does not collect or store personally identifying information. When you first install and launch the app, you will be asked to allow What The Forecast?!! to access your location. Clicking the allow button enables the app to send your latitude and longitude to the AerisWeather servers each time a weather request is made for your current location. Once your location is transmitted, the current forecast for that location will be downloaded automatically to your device. In addition, your latitude and longitude is used by the Apple Map Kit API to find the city and state to which those coordinates pertain. None of the information sent to the AerisWeather servers or the Map Kit API is personally identifiable.

What The Forecast?!! may also collect and pass to third parties precise geolocation information linked to your mobile device or advertising identifiers and may do so when you use the app.  That information may be used by third parties to customize ads in this app or in other apps: For instance, if your device is often located at or near music venues, you might receive offers for music tickets (even when you are not at a music venue).  The information also may be used for market or other research regarding aggregated traffic patterns: For instance, a company that analyzes shopping trends might use the information to learn whether more or fewer devices are seen near malls or in other shopping districts.

The ads displayed in the app may transmit ad clicks and page views. This information helps the app make a little money, allowing me to offer the app for free. The information is anonymous and cannot be used to identify What The Forecast?!! users.

What The Forecast?!! allows third-party companies to collect usage information that does not identify an individual user (“Usage Data”). For example, when you download and use the Services on a mobile device, we automatically collect information such as your device type, operating system version and type, certain device settings, device time zone, device carrier, current IP address, applications installed on the device, and platform-specific advertising identifiers. These companies may utilize cookies, pixels or other technologies to collect and use non-personally identifiable information during your visits in order to provide advertisements about goods and services likely to be of greater interest to you. To learn more about this behavioral advertising practice or to opt-out of this type of advertising, you can visit the websites of the Digital Advertising Alliance at www.aboutads.info and Networking Advertising Initiative at www.networkadvertising.org/choices/. Aggregated device data, including location and usage data, is also measured for the purposes of market research by Placed, Inc. For further information, please see the Placed Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

If you do not want this information to be linked to your device, you may go to your device Settings and opt out of interest-based or personalized advertising.  You may also prevent location from being collected by this or other apps through the Device settings.

Finally, Back Seat Navigator uses Apple Analytics to collect statistics on app crashes and usage. This information helps Night Cat Productions fix issues as they happen. This data is collected anonymously and cannot be used to identify users.

If you have any questions on any of this, please don’t hesitate to contact me at: nightcatprod@gmail.com.
